Vans Warped Tour 2012
“Music Makes the World New” That was the theme of this year’s Vans Warped Tour 2012. Does it remind you of the Mayan calendar prophesying the end of the world maybe? The only difference is that Warped Tour is not for the end, but the beginning of something greater than an empty prophecy = our endless passion for live music!
Now if you’re in Florida and attended the West Palm Beach show, you definitely proved your passion for this event! No other year felt as hot as in this one. Photographer Natalia Marrero said, “This year was the hottest in my opinion but staying hydrated was easy with the water bottle refill stations provided. This is something I looked forward to every year since middle school and will look forward to until I’m 90 years old.” She’s got that right! Melting our faces off will never get old for not one or two, but for a huge line up of the best and most solid touring bands of our days.
Our local scene couldn’t be more proud for the Florida bands that played this years at the Ernie Ball’s Stage: We Are One, Omissions, I Am The Finisher, Your Favorite Franchise and Avenida Zero (winners from the battle of the bands). I was so glad to see personal friends experiencing a part of their dream as they performed for a very challenging, and great amount of people. Plus this year we had our fellow Floridians Yellowcard and New Found Glory playing the whole tour, and as you know they did not fail to impress either; showing to everyone that it’s possible to make it one day as they have.
Each year the festival gets more diverse and creative. Along with all the outside stages, a few bands were also able to show their talent in small tents which made things much more intimate for fans to just hang out and get to personally talk to their favorite artists.
As you walked around scoping out the crowds, and watching bands performing, you would see people in full body suits, costumes, on blow up rafts, and with cameras strapped to their heads as they crowd-surfed to bands like All Time Low, Breath Carolina, Chelsea Grin, Every Time I Die, Miss May I, Pierce the Veil, Sleeping With Sirens, and many others. Fun to see it, better to experience it!
The festival has already passed, but we’re already looking forward to the bands that will be announced for next year. This is how much we love the Warped Tour and will always be there for the bands, our friends, our scene and ourselves!
